The Registered Organisations Commission (ROC) has successfully delivered its first information workshop for 2019 in Sydney, an initiative to provide education, assistance and guidance to employer groups and unions. This is a continuation of the information sessions delivered in various states around Australia in 2018.
The session, held on 26 March at the Karstens Conference Centre, included recent developments around the governance of registered organisations and provided attendees with the opportunity to engage with the Commissioner and staff of the Commission representing the education, compliance and financial analysis teams.
Responding to the feedback received at the previous information sessions, participants had the opportunity to be part of smaller interactive workshops on specific issues. In particular, workshop delegates identified the sessions on financial reporting, the Officer and Related Party Disclosure Statement, and compliance and litigation as the highlights of the half day event.
Feedback from the Sydney workshop will inform the future work of the ROC. The workshop slides are now available on the website, and additional tools and information will be released in the coming weeks in response to information received from stakeholders in Sydney.
The next interactive workshop will be held in Melbourne on Tuesday 7 May 2019. More information, including how to register for the Melbourne workshop, will be released in the coming week via the ROC's online subscription service and website.
