7 September 2017
The Fair Work Amendment (Corrupting Benefits) Act 2017 (the Amendment Act) came into force on 11 September 2017 and makes changes to the Fair Work Act 2009 (the Act). These changes are in response to recommendations of the Royal Commission into Trade Union Governance and Corruption. They relate to corrupting benefits and add new disclosure rules which apply during enterprise bargaining.
The Registered Organisations Commission (the ROC) is leading the campaign to increase awareness about the changes and ensure that employers and organisations understand their new obligations under the Act.
Corrupting Benefits Page
The ROC website now has a dedicated Corrupting Benefits page containing information about the new requirements.
In order to help employers and organisations, the ROC has released two detailed fact sheets, Corrupting Benefits Offences (PDF 221.3KB) and Disclosure Requirements For Bargaining Representatives (PDF 216.5KB).
The ROC will also progressively release a three-part webinar series which will comprehensively explain the changes to the Act. Subscribers to the ROC's free email subscription service will automatically receive invitations to the webinars when they become available.
If you have any questions about the new changes you can call the corrupting benefits helpline on 02 9246 0555 to speak with one of our advisers.
